Sarajuddin Isar is a Political Economy Researcher with extensive experience in banking, finance and international development. He is a PhD candidate at the School of Oriental and African Studies and studies the fiscal dimension of state building with particular focus on the role taxation in the process of state building in post conflict countries. Isar has worked in a number of key roles with United Nations World Food Programme, Afghanaid, OXFAM, ACTED, CRS/Caritas and the Central Bank of Afghanistan in Afghanistan. He also worked with BBC Persian services and is an Editor for Simorg Quarterly (an Afghan diaspora publication) in London. He is also a trustee member for Transitions (a London based refugee engagement forum) and Paiwand Afghan Association (a charity helping Afghan community in the UK). Isar is a published academic author and contributor to a number of academic journals and media pages.
